BLACKBIRD SINGING AND AUTHOR EVENTS

Hello everyone;

I should do this more often, but I sometimes get lovely feedback from people; either about Blackbird Singing or START and sometimes about the occasional Author events I do.

Any of you wanting an Author event for your group or festival do get in touch with me, you can find me on the Scottish Book Trust Live Literature Data Base and also find me through the following links:

Although it is great to buy my books from Fledgling Press, Waterstones have copies of Blackbird Singing on display in many of their stores at the moment so do venture through their doors or go on line – if you are looking for Kindle – Amazon is also a good bet!!

Here are a couple of Testimonials from the recent Reading Minds Festival in Helensburgh:

READING MINDS 2023

I think your session at Jean's Bothy yesterday went really, really well - I was talking to some of the folk who came who were similarly bowled over by your openness and eloquence - I think it's vital we can have these open discussions in supportive spaces in our community to gain a better understanding of what mental health difficulties actually look like, and I truly believe events like that help understanding and empathy start to ripple through our community and into wider society. You are so right about every town and village needing a Jean's Bothy - and after my conversation with the lady sitting next to me yesterday I think your talk will have generated at least one new Bothy member.

I hope you don't mind but I would like to share that I think Blackbird Singing is one of the most amazing and wonderful books I have ever read. There is a passage on page 142 where you are talking about being a feather - the last five lines of that literally took my breath away it was so tender and beautiful. So it felt rather serendipitous when just a paragraph or so later you write about hopefully leaving your readers a little moved. I certainly was - and right on that very page! Thank you for sharing yourself with us on the page - it is very brave so please know it is much appreciated by many people.’

‘Thank you for a fantastic event today, you were brilliant and the amount of positive feedback coming from it is well deserved.’
